Whew! Florida has been keeping the fall nice and hot 🥵 and we upped the temp with this 🔥🔥! A familiar face is back again, this time to celebrate joining the dirty 30 club. Natalee came to us excited to celebrate this milestone birthday, with an exciting twist. Natalee wanted this photoshoot to give a bit of a spooky and macabre vibe as she said goodbye and “laid her 20s to rest”. She’d scouted a few places down in South Florida, and chosen a lovely park in Deerfield Beach with some moody vibes. If you’ve never explored the Constitution Park Arboretum, definitely add it to your list- it’s a hidden gem full of natural beauty, with the perfect ambience for this shoot. I always love a creative concept so I’m definitely all in. Lights, cameras, action-it’s road trip time!

Before the shoot day, Ausbee and I made a trip down to Constitution Park Arboretum to scout the best spots for Natalee’s “Death to my 20s” theme. The park didn’t disappoint-we found some beautiful, moody locations that were perfect for setting the tone. On the big day, we met Natalee and her beau at the park’s entrance and set off for our first locale. Ausbee and I were wildly excited about our newest gear upgrade: a full-size wagon to carry all our lights and stands!🎉 Spoiler alert- it was a game-changer (and we’ll never go back to carrying our gear again!). While Natalee beau, helped with some final touch-ups, we set up and got things rolling. We chatted along with the both of them and started with a few shots to get warmed up. Even the warm up shots came out amazing! We’d found a gorgeous alcove, framed by a large tree with beautiful leaves, and Natalee came ready to serve face from the very first shot!
Next, Natalee brought out some oversized “3-0” balloons that gave a playful touch to the session. As we snapped a few photos with them she talked with us about her feelings on joining “the 30 club”, and joked about how highschool “was just yesterday!” 😄 Natalee’s guy chimed in with a laugh, assuring she’s rocking 30 in the cutest way! Midway through, We hit a small snag-Natalee’s fabulous black and silver heels kept sinking into the soft soil. No problem, though! A quick pivot and removing Natalee’s shoes, along with adjusting the shots’ framing, and we were able to keep things moving forward. With that small tweak, we proceeded to get some amazing shots!
We made a small pivot in the same location and revealed a completely different vibe for the next set of shots. This lush green background was enhanced even more by the presence of the most picture-perfect tree branch we’ve ever run into. Natalee looked almost regal with the sun’s rays warmly glowing around her.
Satisfied with the shots we’d gotten in this really great spot we moved on to our second scouted scene. Natalee took the opportunity to switch into her second dress while we set up near a serene little river surrounded by vibrant foliage. Natalee had brought along several props, and now was the time to bring out the cake! Ausbee was able to capture some adorable candid moments of Natalee and her beau while we prepped the shot, which made a nice warm addition to the shots. Natalee posed while Ausbee snapped away, and I added ambience to the shot utilizing another new (and interesting) tool: A bee smoker! To mix things up we also tried out some creative backlighting, and the results were nothing short of stunning. ❤️
These photos turned out beautifully, and we concluded this portion of the session to head to our final scene!
Our final spot took us to a small arbor covered with dense green leafage, dotted with small purple flowers. Natalee brought the balloons out one last time to get some final cute shots, and we were about ready to wrap up the session. During my session prep I’d located an interesting photo that I’d want to try, and had Natalee hold her phone close to the camera lens so Ausbee could capture a close-up shot of year “30 calling in!” 😉 We wrapped the session as a whole and packed our equipment and supplies back in our handy new wagon and thanked Natalee and her guy for coming out. We then started the journey out the park, Ausbee and I excitedly reviewing the photos in camera and discussing editing plans. Despite the humidity, everything about the day came together beautifully!
A huge Thank you to Natalee for trusting us to capture her milestone moment, and we wish her the most amazing birthday!
